The RoadRunner

Why RoadRunner?

My first hunting experience was in the Hill Country of Texas. The RoadRunner Ranch. A place that literally changed my entire perspective on life. Remoteness, dark skies with stars beyond stars. So quiet and relaxing, it was a place to reset your soul. Connect to the universe. Many lessons were learned on the RoadRunner Ranch. The powerful emotions of hunting. My first buck. I’ll never forget it. The RoadRunner Ranch is etched in my mind for eternity. And of course there were roadrunners.

Roadrunners are some of the most interesting ground birds. Excellent hunters, fast and fearless, they are all over the Texas Hill Country. I never got tired of seeing them. Watching them expertly take down lizards, scorpions, snakes, and other critters made me appreciate how efficiently they hunt. Watching them run, scurry, and dart was endlessly entertaining.

So, when the rifle rest was ready for a name, my dad reminded me of the ranch: “What about RoadRunner Rifle Rest?” And that was it. My first exposure to ranch life, my first hunting experience, a fierce ground bird!
